As you know,we always classify our test spec base on different point,like priority,function.Firstly,classify by priority,that would be convenient for every release,we can only execute those spec with high priority.It is seem that we could reduce the number of spec to implement.Secondly,classify by function,generally,we will design spec for all function in each use case.In this case,we can arrange our more energy for those new function or important function in each release.It is seem that we can guarantee the quanlity of our product.But I don't think so.

  For the first instance,if we classify spec by priority.In my view,that would not enough,as you know,sometime,one function in different place has different priority.I think that would not favor for classify when we design spec.And testing high prioity spec is not enough for testing.Before each release,we ought to test all function,although maybe some release hasn't high priority.In this way,we shouldn't test only base on test spec,and additional,test spec cannot cover all function.It only test elementary function.For crossing between different modles,for combination between some functions,we should run more free test to make sure quanlity.For the second instance,only classify by function,it's undoubt that we may have more burden for each release.Although,we can execute spec base on the essentiality,I still think that isn't enough.

  In my opinion,we should classify spec more detail.Classify by function on the first level,then classify by priority.In this way,for those same function have different priority,we can wrtie spec for different priority and they can be intergrated to same function.The prior is that this will in favor of testing before release.I think,we should testing the new function both within high and lower function,and those existed function with high priority.Then test those spec with lower priority,maybe we can spot-check them.Whether or not,we should run more test spec before release to make sure quanlity.
