Midnight Commander - Visual shell for Unix-like systems

 command line options:

-a, --stickchars
Disable usage of graphic characters for line drawing.

-t, --termcap
Used only if the code was compiled with Slang and terminfo: it
makes the Midnight Commander use the value of the TERMCAP variâ€
able for the terminal information instead of the information on
the system wide terminal database

usages:

C-x c run the Chmod command on a file or on the tagged files.

C-x h run the add directory to hotlist command.

Alt-? executes the Find file command.

Alt-c pops up the quick cd dialog.

Insert, C-t  to tag files

M-e to change charset of panel you may use M-e (Alt-e).

Alt-g, Alt-r, Alt-j  used to select the top file in a panel, the middle file and the bottom one, respectively.

 C-s, Alt-s start a filename search in the directory listing.

Alt-t toggle the current display listing to show the next display listing mode. 

C-\ (control-backslash)  show the directory hotlist and change to the selected directory.

+ (plus) this is used to select (tag) a group of files.

\ (backslash) use the "\" key to unselect a group of files.

alt-o open dir in the other panel

alt-i open same dir in the other panel

alt-y go to previous dir

alt-u go to next dir

Alt-Shift-h, Alt-H displays the directory history

command line usages:

^-enter, Alt-Enter copy the currently selected file name to the command line.
