Media Center Extender - MPEG2 Playback?

Has anyone been able to play standard definition MPEG2 video (with MPEG audio) from MY VIDEOS on Linksys media center extender? The specifications indicate that this should work. I have not been able to play any MPEG2 file (including former DVR-MS files converted to MPEG2). All of these play fine on media center PC. MPEG1 files play fine on extender. Any helpful suggestions appreciated (especially specific MPEG2 specifications of files that do play on extender) Thanks.....

MPEG-2 files with MPEG audio should work fine; what is the specific issue you're seeing? Also, what bit-rate and resolution are the files? This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

I get a message saying that the extender cannot play video. It says either it doesn't have a suitable CODEC or the file is corrupted. I have tried files 480*480 and 360*240. I have also tried variable and constant bitrates. Any of thesee files play fine on Windows Media Player on the PC. I believe the bitrates are within acceptable limits. I am not home to check it right now. Specifically, I have tried to play MPEG2 files that were originally DVR-MS files. All I do to create them is strip the Microsoft wrapper using TMPGENC, so all the bitrate and resolution info should be preserved. Any suggestions?
