Problem(Abstract)
In Tivoli Storage Manager V5.5 or higher API Clients, the restore of UDB DB2 fails with the error
SQL2033N and Reason Code 406
Cause
Starting from the Tivoli Storage Manager Client V5.5 and higher the default API installation directory is
'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Tivoli\TSM\api'. The following IBM technote explains this directory change: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21669109
Resolving the problem
The Reason Code 406 indicates that the option file (dsm.opt) is not found or cannot be located. This can be due to the differences in the directory structure for the newer Tivoli Storage Manager client, especially if the default values are being utilized.
The following steps should resolve this error.
- Copy the dsm.opt file from the "C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\api" directory to the “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Tivoli\TSM\api" directory
- Set the following system environment variable:
- DSMI_CONFIG=C:\Program Files\Common Files\Tivoli\TSM\api\dsm.opt
- Restart the DB2 instance (DB2STOP and DB2START)
- Now, retry the restore of the DB2 Database.
