The Development of the Mobile Phone – by Jafar Nabeel
We are like to talk about a feature technology which I believe has revolutionized the way that people of today communicate. This feature technology which has allowed many people in remote region of the 3th world, where has no telecommunication infrastructure, to have full communication systems. What we will talk about is the mobile phone.
How Phones Work??
The mobile phone is popular among billions of people around the world. According to today’s statistics, there are more 3 billions of us who own one. Mobile phone is a low power device that emits and receives the Electromagnetic waves. These connect each individual phone to a network base-station, so that user can receive and make calls. The base-stations are fixed in various locations and they work with the mobile phones with the aim to find area, which allows you to make the call.
History of the Mobile Phone
To start with, one of the most interesting things that people do not know about the mobile phone is that it’s actual a radio, one extremely sophisticated radio. The idea of telephone began back in 1876 by Alexander Gram Bell, and idea of the wireless communication came straightly thought the invention of radio by Nikolas Tesla in 1880’s. It’s only natural that these two great pieces of technology would eventually be combined, and formed the mobile phone as we know today.
First Generation
Fist Generation is the name given to the first developed mobile phone networks. These systems use analog technology and work in small frequency bands. Despite of the steps in communication, these early networks have a couple of problems: They have low traffic pass that not many people could use it at the same time. Unreliable handover, poor voice quality and security, these were why it was just stopped.
Second Generation
Second Generation mobile networks were the logical next station of the development of wireless systems. They introduce for the first time a mobile telephone system that uses purely digital technology. The demands placed on the networks is specially dense in populated area which raise an increasing need of sophisticated methods how to be employed to handle a large number of calls, which meant to avoid the risk of interference that causes dropped off. Although many of the principle involved in the 1G system also applied in the 2G system, they were built using the same cell structure. There are also differences in the way how the signals are handled. And in the 1G system, they are not capable of handling more advanced features of the 2G system, such as caller identity and text messaging, while they are so influential improvements.
Problems of Mobile Phones
Despite mobile phone is being a great piece of technology, there are a range of problems linked with them. As all electrical equipments, a mobile phone contains a range of staffs that are harmful if the device is not disposed properly. These staffs may lead to cancers and other disorders to the human beings, and can have devastating impact if they are to be released to the environment. Another problem is the electro-magnetic waves produced by mobiles may lead to a increase risk of cancers in the brain. However, having said these, mobiles have been developed to minimize these problems. An example of these is a Nokia Evolve, which has been claimed to contain 60% of renewable material and have minimized the use of Lead and Mercury.
Mobile phone technology has come a long way and is advancing rapidly, but what can people be expecting to use in the future? What would the mobile be able to do, what would it look like?
