This is a step by step tutorial of how to install mysql 5.6 on centOS 7.
CentOS replaced Mysql with MariaDB in its official yum repository. MariaDB is fine but if you still miss InnoDb and the tuned parameters you are familiar with you can still install the latest mysql 5.6 version. Here is how to do that:1. Add mysql community into your rpm repo
yum install http://dev.mysql.com/get/mysql-community-release-el7-5.noarch.rpm
2. install mysql
yum install mysql-community-server
3. start mysql
systemctl start mysqld
you can modify the config file to optimize your mysql
[root@localhost ~]# vi /etc/my.cnf
4. restart your mysql service
systemctl restart mysqld
