Basic Introduction to Telecommunication Principle

    Message (消息) : the material career(物質載體) of the information ; the outward manifestation of the information . 消息是信息的載體；

    Information(信息) : the valuable content which is contained in the message . The value of the information is to be propagated , not the information itself . If the content is not valuable , that’s not the information . 

    Signal(信號) : In essence it’s the transportation career of the message . Usually it’s the electrical expression of the message .

There are analogue and digital signals .

    Analogue signal : 信號參考量連續，並且參考量的取值無窮. e.g. PAM signal (Pulse-amplitude modulation ) .

    Digital Signal :信號參考量離散,並且取值有限. e.g. PSK signal .

    Tele-communication(通信) : is to transport the information which is contained in the message , via the electrical signal . The aim of the communication is to propagate the information . 

    Tele-communication system (通信系統) : The aggregate of all the electrical equipment and channels(信道) which are involved in the tele-communication .

    The information amount(信息量) : the quantitative description of the uncertainty of the information in the message . The information amount is related to the possibility or unpredictability of the event in the information .The more impossible the event would occur , the larger information amount gets . 

    Despite that there is no specific mathematic relationship between the information amount and the probability , they are inversely related .
