The Disk Image Tool, DskImage.exe, creates the image files (.bin and/or .nb0). It replaces Romimage.exe for Image Update builds.

DskImage.exe takes as input the package files: a memory configuration file and an image manifest file.

Usage

You can use the Disk Image Tool using the following command-line syntax:

dskimage <CFGfile> <SKUfile>

Parameters

CFGfile

Path to a memory configuration file. This file details the RAM and flash memory layout for the current platform, and defines all the partitions.

SKUfile

Path to an image manifest file. This file lists collections of packages and assigns them to partitions.

Remarks

Disk Image does not process the file extension when parsing input files, but when called from the Package Builder, Buildpkg.bat, Disk Image expects inputs with the following names:

CFGfile = Memory.cfg.xml

SKUfile = %_TGTPLAT%.sku.xml

For more information about the Image Update build script, see Package Builder (BuildPkg.bat).

If you see output from the Disk Image Tool that looks like the following example output, then it means that an Image Update File System (IMGFS) partition was not found when DskImage.exe processed the memory configuration file. To successfully create the run-time image, it must contain an IMGFS partition. For more information, see Image Update File System (IMGFS) and Memory Configuration File.

The workaround for this is to add an IMGFS partition to your run-time image. For more information, see IMGFS Element and System Partition.
