Monday morning the 5 new Career Bridge Interns came. A Russian woman who is very smart and quick, a Russian man looks like a KGB (who had a son of 20 years old), a Pakistan muslin man who is always troublesome, a Chinese woman (born in 1968 with a boy of 10 living in Hamilton, cost her 18.xx CAD per day for travelling by Go Train), a Peru man who always wore a tie and suit, always printing everything I sent to him.
I was one of the four in the first round, this five interns are in the second round. We started on Nov 20, 2006, almost 3 months earlier than them. In order to make them catch up our steps, I offered my supervisor a request taking good care of the new interns.
I knew the Chinese woman because my supervisor showed me her resume before in a team breakfast and he also mentioned that this Chinese girl did the best in the SQL test in the second round. We did in the frist round interview. Also he mentioned that she got a master degree in computer science in BUAA and her score is only a little lower than my score for that SQL test. To my surprise, she got a T42 too. I was wondering why I got a T42 when I first came while others got T30s. And the Russian woman got a T40. All the others had T30s. It seems that the best guy got the best thinkpad notebook. Can I call this discrimination on the test score?
The new five intern from career bridge got Laptop on the first day. My boss, who is the boss of my supervisor and my supervisor gave them an orientation, while we didn't have till now. Then I helped them to get EDW ID, Local Admin, EDW Password, Teradata SQL Basic Training handout, Install Teradata Client (SQL*Assistant and BTEQ), Masha's EDW Training, Governence Document Training, office communicator, VPN in the first week.
What a busy week for them and for me. I got all these hardware and software done in the first 3 weeks. They got them done in one week. I am really admiring myself, since I am still capable of doing things in a right and quickest way. I am still able to face chanllenges. I am still young.
