Here you can find troubleshootings for Windows Phone 7 application development.
1. Connection failed because of invalid command-line arguments.
Q: After setup Visual Studio 2010 ultimate sp1 and Windows Phone SDK 7.1, I created a sample Silverlight for Windows Phone application. It build successfully. While trying to debug it on Windows Phone Emulator, it threw an error message "Connection failed because of invalid command-line arguments" and failed to run.
A: I have tried all kinds of way. Uninstall and reinstall the Windows Phone SDK 7.1, it still did not work. Remove old version Emulators such as 5.x or 6.x, it still did not work. Run Windows Phone Emulator from the command line, it popup a System Error "The program can't start because MFPlat.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
The root cause is that my operation system is Windows 7 Professional N, which does not include Windows Media Player, and related technologies. You must install "KB968211" update. After installing this update and rebooting my computer, I tried to open the Windows Phone 7 Emulator. Wao! it opened. Run my sample Windows Phone 7 application, it worked this time perfectly.
