How To Create a Header Level Modifier Which Excludes Items


Goal

An order or quote has many lines. A header level discount needs to be applied; however, not all the items (lines) need to be included in the discount.
How can I exclude items from a discount?

Example:

3 items:

itemA, itemB, and itemC - any line with itemC is not to be considered for discount

 


Solution
Please create an ASK FOR promotion modifier.

Setup
-------
Define an ASK FOR modifier with the following details

Header
Modifier Type – Promotion (check ASK FOR check box at header level)
Automatic – Yes

Line
Modifier Type – Discount
Level –Group of Line
Product Attribute – All Items
Product – ALL
Volume Type – Item Quantity, from 1-9999999
Application Method – Percentage
Value – As desired.

Exclude Products – Add Item/Item Category you want to exclude

Create order or quote:

1. Enter all the lines. As the modifier defined is an ASK FOR modifier, it will not be applied.
2. Navigate to Order Header - > Actions-> Promotional/Pricing Attribute

Apply the ASK FOR modifier defined above. This modifier will apply only to the required lines
and will not be applied to the excluded item lines.
