Photos from Sabratha

Ancient Sabratha was a city at the west of Tripoli about 65 Km, this city was established by some local residents about 2300 year ago, and then ruled by the largest brunch of Phoenician, Roman, Arab with Muslim religion. We went there in a cloudy cold Friday afternoon.

Reasonably, we saw all kinds of trail of Roman, bathes, forum, and showplaces. The most particular of this city is its location, it was build so near to the sea, even now, you might jump from the Roman bath to the sea, the sea, not the beach.

I could not keep myself from thinking the same question when I was there, i.e., why was the Roman so strong, and so uniformed from place to place, and I wanted to know the reason of collapse of Roman. But it seems it is not easy to answer these questions.

If you can go there and start to imagine the common life of at Sabratha ever, I believe you will be surprised they were actually so strong, and so organized, and so rich, and so luxury in common life, on entertainment, and on ritual.
