Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old white man was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting in one of Columbia S.C.'s oldest historically black church killing 9 people. And he was arrested twice before - once on the suspicion of drug possession and another was trespassing.
The drug possession incident resulted in Roof's being banned from some mall for one year, while in the April, he was arrested again - this time accused of trespassing. He was convicted on the trespassing charge.
Police are describing this attack as a hate crime. Roof was caught after a manhunt on 18th June.
Roof repeated his ninth grade in Lexington County but left and enrolled at another high school as a nine grade student in 2010. He left the school in May.
Carson Cowles, 56, who identified himself as Roof's uncle said Roof's father had given Roof a handgun as his 21st birthday present.
"I don't have any words for it" said Cowles, "Nobody in my family had seen anything like this coming"
