【OCM】Oracle Database 10g: RAC for Administrators（三）

今天是参加OU为期5天的OCM课程 “Oracle Database 10g: RAC for Administrators”的第三天，让概念来的更猛烈一些吧。
RAC数据库涉及到的概念可谓浩如烟海，如何梳理清楚这些概念呢？其实只要从RAC的终极目标（如何用尽量少的代价提高系统的整体可用性和可扩展性）出发去理解便会柳暗花明，每一个概念的背后都隐藏着具体的实际问题，如何权衡是关键。

今天的课程内容如下：
Lesson 7: Services
    1.Configure and manage services in a RAC environment
    2.Use services with client applications
    3.Use services with the Database Resource Manager
    4.Use services with the Scheduler
    5.Set performance-metric thresholds on services
    6.Configure services aggregation and tracing

Lesson 8: High Availability of Connections
    1.Configure client-side connect-time load balancing
    2.Configure client-side connect-time failover
    3.Configure server-side connect-time load balancing
    4.Use the Load Balancing Advisory (LBA)
    5.Describe the benefits of Fast Application Notification(FAN)
    6.Configure server-side callouts
    7.Configure the server- and client-side ONS
    8.Configure Transparent Application Failover (TAF)

通过今天的课程对“Services”（服务）这个概念有了更深入的理解，对应的GC相关的实验也有助于更深入的了解这个“服务”为何物。Oracle的“服务”的概念可谓无处不在，不过国内能够将其细粒度的用好的人比较少，原因很多。

Oracle为了保证在RAC环境中提供高可用的连接，提出了FAN（Fast Application Notification）、LBA（Load Balancing Advisory）、TAF（Transparent Application Failover）等技术手段，在这些技术的保障下RAC的高可用性得以体现和提升。

GC（Grid Control）在RAC高可用性方面的配置和调整有着自己的直观和清晰的特点。不过作为图形化工具它隐藏了太多的细节，极易出现误操作，建议大家在进行高可用性配置和调整时要知其然更要知其所以然。
