The Font dialog box in Word is used to format text, such as changing the font or font size or making text bold or italic, and can be accessed in multiple ways. One quick and easy way is using the context menu.

Highlight the text you want to format and right-click on it. The mini toolbar and context menu displays. Select “Font” from the context menu.

NOTE: You can also use the mini toolbar to format the highlighted text with some commonly used formats. The “Font” dialog box provides additional options not available on the mini toolbar.

The “Font” dialog box displays. Select the desired formatting for the selected text and click “OK.” The “Advanced” tab provides additional options, including character spacing.

The “Font” dialog box is also accessible from the ribbon by clicking the dialog button in the lower-right corner of the “Font” section of the “Home” tab.

However, if you’ve hidden the ribbon, the dialog button is not available. The context menu is a good alternative for formatting your text if you prefer to use the mouse. If you using keyboard shortcuts, press “Ctrl + D” to access the “Font” dialog box.
