A few years ago, a trend started with Android manufacturers where they thought it would be a good idea to take the Settings menu—a generally straightforward place on most phones—and paginate it. So instead of having a solid list of things that can quickly be scrolled through until you find what you’re looking for, you’re stuck with flipping through a series of tabs and then scrolling through each one. It makes no sense.

LG uses this method on the G5, but it also includes a quick toggle to go back and forth between the tab view and list view. This is the perfect compromise in my opinion, because if you’re a glutton for punishment you can stick with the tab view. But if you’re happy with life and the way things are going, you can use list view. Either way, I’m happy we have that choice.

To change this setting, first jump into the Settings menu. Pull down the notification shade and tap the cog icon in the upper right.

From here, tap the three-dot overflow menu in the top right corner. Depending on what view you’re currently looking at (Tab View is the default), the other option will show up. Just tap it to change.
