Android Auto is an excellent way to enhance your driving experience. You can get turn-by-turn directions, stream your music library, interact with Google Assistant, send text messages, and more. Below, we’ve listed all the vehicles that are currently compatible with Android Auto.

In a nutshell, most cars manufactured within the last few years support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Typically, you connect your compatible phone to the car’s in-dash infotainment system. It then mirrors your phone’s GPS navigation, entertainment apps, and more. The head unit just serves as a touch-capable display.

If you own a device with Android 9 Pie or later, you have to download and install the Android Auto app from Google Play. Android Auto is built into Android 10 and newer.

Most cars that support Android Auto require a physical USB tether to the in-dash infotainment center. More recent vehicles might support Android Auto wirelessly, in which case, you only need the USB tether for the initial setup. After that, your phone communicates to the in-dash head via Wi-Fi.
