When trying to change administrativecredentials using the manage accounts interface in SharePoint 2010/2013 I often come across this error:
Errordeploying administration application pool credentials. Another deployment maybe active. An object of the typeMicrosoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPAdminAppPoolCredentialDeploymentJobDefinitionnamed "job-admin-apppool-change" already exists under the parentMicrosoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPTimerService named"SPTimerV4". Rename your object or delete the existing object.
When the managed accounts tab section is usedto change the password it creates a timer job"job-admin-apppool-change" and if this is half way or has beencorrupted (like it's been half way through and system reboot occurred) then thejob "Sticks" and this can manifest itself as the error above.
The best and quickest way of rectifying this Ihave found is to delete the job and try again.
Use the following PowerShell to delete the job:
$tj= Get-SPTimerJob -Identity "job-admin-apppool-change"
$TJ.Delete()
Now try reset your password again using the managed accounts link and you should be successful.
