 Job Summary: A post-doctoral fellow position is available at the Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) working with Dr. Ashley Stokes in the Division of Neuro-Imaging Research and with Dr. Ryan Walsh in Neurology. The position will primarily focus on the development, application, and analysis of advanced MRI methods to improve our understanding of neuropathological changes associated with Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. These methods include advanced functional MRI, perfusion-, and diffusion-based imaging methods. The fellow will join a highly collaborative team within an internationally renowned clinical research setting. 

Applicants should have a PhD in physics, engineering, or a related discipline. Competitive candidates will have experience with fMRI and/or perfusion MRI acquisition and analysis..*Qualifications* Minimum Requirements: 

  • Ph. D, Post-baccalaureate M.D.or . degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor required. Laboratory or clinical technical and/or interpersonal skills as appropriate required. 

  • Laboratory or clinical research at the post-baccalaureate level with an interest in a faculty member's line of study required. 

  • Familiar with basic computer, mathematical, scientific, reasoning, and oral and written communication skills as appropriate required. 

  • Preferred Doctoral degree in a relevant field of endeavor preferred. Technical and/or conceptual expertise in a relevant field preferred. Beyond minimum required, experience writing research reports concerning own work and familiarity with a biomedical discipline preferred. 

  • Proficient in basic computer, mathematical, scientific, reasoning, and oral and written communication skills as appropriate preferred.

Job Description Summary

Neuroimaging Data Analyst Junior

The Penn Lifespan Informatics and Neuroimaging Center (PennLINC) is part of the Department of Psychiatry, the Neurodevelopment & Psychosis Section, and the Lifespan Brain Institute (LiBI).  Our goal is to delineate normal brain maturation and understand how abnormalities of development give rise to psychiatric symptoms.  To do this, we leverage advanced multi-modal MRI imaging.   The Neuroimaging Data Analyst Junior will provide support for managing and analyzing data.  See our website at www.pennlinc.io for more details.

Neuroimaging Data Analyst Junior

The Neuroimaging Data Analyst Junior provides support for managing and analyzing neuroimaging data.  Analysts play a central role on large-scale neuroimaging projects that seek to understand brain development and the biological basis of mental illness.  Within these projects, they work in a team environment with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of faculty and trainees from psychiatry, psychology, engineering, statistics, and computer science.  Primary responsibilities include management, processing, and analysis of high-dimensional imaging data.   Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on the successful candidate's skills and interests. All analysts additionally lead independent projects where they write first-author manuscripts that are frequently published in top journals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree, in Engineering, Statistics, or Computational Neuroscience, as well as 1-2 years of research experience. Master’s degree preferred. To succeed in the highly collaborative environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.  Program and data analysis skills are strongly preferred, including Python, linux/bash, and R.  experience with neuroimaging tools (SPM, AFNI, FSL) is preferred but not required.  

Background check required. Position contingent on funding.
