Developer Relations Engineer, Android Applications

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field of study or equivalent practical experience.

• 4 years of software development experience through coding in Android development and testing.

• Ability to speak and write in English and Mandarin fluently.

Preferred qualifications

• 6 years of relevant work experience, including experience working with third-party developers to launch large scale integration, conducting technical workshops/hackathons and providing technical advice to large companies.

• Excellent public speaking skills, with experience presenting to large technical audiences.

• Experience working in a support or consulting relationship with customers. Considerable success as a technical account manager, solutions consultant, customer engineer or software developer working with mobile technologies.

• Deep understanding of mobile application development landscapes in China.

• Ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally and across teams.

About the job

Our team’s mission is to drive Android ecosystem success through top partner engineering direction and support. Our focus is on supporting Google's largest partners and internal developers who build applications for Android and Google Play. The APAC Partner Developer Relations (DevRel) team works closely with regional partners in APAC and brings local insights to improve our Android/Google Play developer products. We support showcase integration launches and updates, and provide technical workshops and advice to top partners.

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will connect with partners, provide engineering support and guidance, and accelerate adoption of Android/Google Play technologies. You will also help drive developer strategy with product/engineering teams, acting as the voice of your partners to bring mutually beneficial features to market.

In this role, you will work closely with partners on their complex product integrations on android apps and help bring solutions that create a cohesive experience and great experience to end users on the platform. You will also work with product teams to help build meaningful APIs to drive success of Android platform.

Responsibilities

• Work on the core source code of Google's products with other engineers to identify, reproduce/test, and/or fix bugs that improve critical developer journeys.

• Take regular engineering-focused meetings with partners to help them design new systems, build and launch new feature integrations, fix bugs, improve UX, and solve complex code problems at scale.

• Work with Google’s strategic partners to drive adoption of product/API integrations across the Android and Google Play ecosystem.

• Communicate and work with partners to guide them through Android API changes and deprecation policies.

• Bring industrial and regional insights to internal stakeholders, and influence cross-functional teams to collaboratively improve the developer and user experience across the ecosystem.
