Tomcat can be configured to run in development mode to aid developers that are working on customizations for a Windchill solution
In this mode, Tomcat checks each JSP file continuously and automatically recompiles it on the fly if it has been updated, eliminating the need for restarts to apply the changes
- Note: In this mode, modify Java files still need method server restart
To reconfigure Tomcat to run in development mode, do the following:
1. Start a Windchill Shell and change folder to the Tomcat installation directory, eg. <WT_HOME>/tomcat
2. Execute the following command in the shell:
```
ant -f config.xml configureJspEngine -Dmode=dev
```
3. Restart Tomcat (release 9.1 or earlier) or Windchill (release 10.0 or newer)
To revert back to production mode, do the following:
1. Start a Windchill Shell and change folder to the Tomcat installation directory as described above.
2. Execute the following command in the shell:
```
ant -f config.xml configureJspEngine -Dmode=prod
```
3. Restart Tomcat (release 9.1 or earlier) or Windchill (release 10.0 or newer)
