This one’s going to be a bit different, we’re going to play a game. Given a small bit of code, can you tell if modern browsers will make an http request or not? Sounds simple, but this quiz will hurt your feelings if you’re a bad loser. But don’t worry, low scorers won’t be shamed.

Make no mistake, this isn’t all about network optimision, we’ll use things like the browser’s rendering layer and threading model to trigger requests you might not expect.

Between questions we’ll go through the whys and the hows, exploring some dark dark corners of specifications and why some browsers go their own way.
