Using the LargePool
Unlike the shared pool, the large pool does not have an LRUlist. Oracle does not attempt to age objects out of the largepool.
You should consider configuring a large pool if your instanceuses any of the following:
-
Parallel query
Parallel query uses shared pool memory to cache parallelexecution message buffers.
See Also:
OracleDatabase Data Warehousing Guide for more information onsizing the large pool with parallel query
-
RecoveryManager
Recovery Manager uses the sharedpool to cache I/O buffers during backup and restoreoperations. For I/O serverprocesses and backup and restore operations, Oracle allocatesbuffers that are a few hundred kilobytes in size.
See Also:
OracleDatabase Backup and Recovery Reference for moreinformation on sizing the large pool when using RecoveryManager
-
Shared server
In a shared server architecture, the session memory for eachclient process is included in the shared pool.
