RUP,the abbreviation of the Rational Unified Process . it is one of the popular software development methodologies, it  includs initially , elebatoration , construction , delivery four phases.each phase can have a formal development literaion which includes risks assessment, requirement analysis, design ,development ,test case, delivery etc

RUP usually offers 4+1 views to describe software architecture:

usecase view:

logical view: logical view is concerned with the functionalist  that system provides to the end users. UML used to present the logical view are the following:

  a) classes diagram: a  static structure diagram that describes  structure of a system by showing system's classes ,operations ,attriutes and relationship among their classes

  b)communication diagram; communication diagram ia an interative diagram that show communication among objects ,it can contain message direction

  c) sequence diagram: sequence diagram ia an interative  diagram that show objects interact in time orders,it emphasis the object sends message according time order

development view: the development view  illustrates the a system from the programmer perspective ,

  a)component diagram: despicting components wire together to form the big component

  b)package diagram:despicting the dependency realtionship among packages.

process view:despicting a system  behavior during the runtime ,it focuses on dynamic apsects ,emphasis concurrency, distribution ,scalability ,performance
