12c Instant Client Throws System Error Code 126 or 193 or 106

APPLIES TO:

Oracle ODBC Driver - Version 12.1.0.1 and later
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)

SYMPTOMS

Creation of DSN fails with following error:
      The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_12_1 ODBC Driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126: The specified module could not be found. (C:\Oracle\instantclient_12_1\SQORAS32.DLL)

In few occasions the error code is either 193 or 106.
Note : This issue is applicable to full client and other lower versions as well.
 

CAUSE

Visual C++ 2010  Redistributable package may not be available in the system. 
 

SOLUTION

Install "Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable package"  for creating 32 bit DSN

For building 64 bit applications or creating 64 bit DSN install below Redistributable package:

For Oracle client 12.2 :
      The issue is seen happening in 12.2 Oracle client and it requires to install Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package to resolve the issue.
