he60/hev70 vs hd800

HD800. the voice sounds more natural. the sound stage is larger. the detail is better. you can hear the singer pronounce the start of words. you can hear as she moves from one note to another with her voice. there is better texture and weight. drums and guitar have instant impact. guitar has more resonance and the notes hold longer. at 55 sec, it is like thunder and a lighting strike. a burst of energy that the headphone captures. the sound is almost overpowering, not just here but in other places. very intense. only complaint is a bit boomy at times.

HE60. voice sounds clearer, a little more distant, but not as natural. it sounds refined but thinner. the sound stage is smaller. the overall presentation is more focused, but the instrument separation or imaging is not as good. the impact at 55 is not like the 800. you hear it but don't feel it. the short guitar solo at 1:45 sounds a bit thin. drums have little impact by comparison. everything is smaller, thinner, and with less impact/immediacy.

winner: hands down, the HD800.
