Difficult Being a
Man
Which role is more difficult
to play, a man or a woman?
Generally speaking, it is more
difficult to be a man.
Firstly, men have to do the
most heavy and tiring work at home. They invariably act the roles
as manual labors. When lights fuse, furniture gets rickety, pipes
get clogged, or vacuum cleaners fail to operate, women assume that
their husbands will somehow put things right. They hardly have any
chance to choose, as this sort of labor distribution has already
been widely accepted in the society. Complaints or escapes only
serve to indicate their laziness or weakness. While women freely
choose to do those relatively effortless tasks.
Secondly, men are responsible
to protect women. Men are supposed to be forever brave. Women can
scream widely simply at the sight of a mouse or a cockroach.
However, men must keep perfectly calm. Faced with danger, men
should step forward without hesitance; to struggle against floods,
fires, robbers, monsters, etc, however terribly scared inside they
are. It’s their duty and compulsory to protect the physically
weak--women.
Last but not the least, men
are faced with heavier economic pressure. Men are obliged to apply
themselves to the tough task of making money. They have to work
hard to make ends meet, such as to afford an apartment, to feed the
family, to get their children well educated, etc. However, they
have to work even harder if they don’t want to be ignored or
looked down upon in nowadays competitive society. On the other
hand, women can choose to be housewives, just sitting comfortably
in an armchair, telling stories to their lovely
kids.
So, it’s obvious that men are
loaded with much heavier burdens. Being a man is considerably more
difficult than a woman.
