A verification method comprises: acquiring content data, a plurality of first hash values generated from the respective ones of a plurality of pieces of partial data into which the content data is divided, and a signature generated by use of the plurality of first hash values and a secret key (S301); acquiring state information of a vehicle (S302); specifying N that is an integer equal to or greater than one in accordance with the acquired state information (S303); generating second hash values from the respective ones of N pieces of partial data among the plurality of pieces of partial data (S305); verifying the content data by use of (a) first hash values included in the acquired plurality of first hash values and generated from the respective ones of the plurality of pieces of partial data except the N pieces of partial data, (b) the generated second hash values and (c) the acquired signature (S306); and outputting information indicating the result of the verification (S308, S309).
