The School of Software has three undergraduate majors: Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. The international advanced CDIO engineering education mode is implemented in each major. Based on TOPCARES integrated talent cultivation mode, an integrated theoretical practice teaching and quality education system is designed. The mixed teaching method is adopted to cultivate application-oriented senior professionals with engineering practice ability, innovation and entrepreneurship ability and autonomous learning ability.

Recently, according to the national third-party university evaluation and consulting agency, iResearch alumni association network(Cuaa.Net)’s reports on the latest rankings of China's first-class majors in 2020, China's first-class professional rankings of private universities in 2020 and China's best professional rankings in 2020, the software engineering major of DNUI won China's six-star major (6 ★), ranking among China's top professions in 2020. Among them, software engineering major ranks first among private colleges and universities in China. At present, software engineering major has been selected into the first batch of national first-class undergraduate major construction units in 2019, and has built "National Comprehensive Reform Pilot Major", "Liaoning Province Advantageous Major with Characteristics", "Liaoning Province to application-oriented transformation demonstration major", "Liaoning Province Higher Learning Schools Undergraduate Course System Internationalization Pilot Major", "Liaoning Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Pilot Major" in 2013, the comprehensive evaluation of Software Engineering major ranked the third in Liaoning Province. Majors of Data Science and Big Data Technology was added in 2018, and Artificial Intelligence was established in 2020.
