Development of A Robotic Rollator-Orthosis System for Mobility Augmentation and Eldercare
This project is funded by the Midstream Research Programme for Universities (MRP) from the Innovation and Technology Commission, Hong Kong. This project proposes an innovative solution to overcome the limitations of a conventional rollator or an active orthosis while maintaining the merits of both devices, therefore, helping the elderly individuals maintain the capability of moving around with their own lower limbs on the premise of safety and facilitate their health monitor and care in real time.
研究环境
The successful candidate will work in direct collaboration with researchers from the rπLab (Robotics, Perception & AI Lab), Department of Electronic Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The rπLab is led by Prof. Max Q.-H. Meng (http://www.ee.cuhk.edu.hk/~qhmeng/index.html), aiming at elevating the societal impact of robotics research by delivering tangible services and benefits to general public through solid theoretical investigations and focused technological developments. Our current research efforts are concentrated on:
• Robotic wireless capsule endoscopy with image based automatic diagnosis,
• Surgical robotic system to facilitate orthopedic surgery and painless/scarless NOTES surgical procedures, and
• Robotic perception and scenario intelligence to enable service robots to interact better with general public and to understand better their working environments and the human users.
