AbstractAbstractProcess migration has been advocated as a means of improving the load balancingand reliability of distributed systems．However,the foreign software are the on thedominating position in the process migration field．Because that the process migrationhas almost been realized in the commercial operating systems，i．e．we can’t get thesource code freely,the process migration won’t be used widely．Furthermore，theexisting migration systems are waiting to be improved for the out of date migrationalgorithms，the heavy communication overhead and SO on．On the other hand，thebiggest source opening operating system Linux hasn’t released the edition includingprocess migration subsystem．It is not only theoretically significant but sociallymeaningful to research and develope the process migration of our own country．This paper includes two components：the theoretical research and the realization inLinux．The first component is presented around two questions．To answer the question“how to migrate”，a process migration algorithm is proposed basing on three migrationconditions．The second question is“Which process is the sourcc host，which process isthe destination host，which process should be chosen to migrate and when?”To answerthe question，a improved means of migration mechanism is presented．The migrationalgorithm proposed by this paper allow that the execution of process migrating andprocess going is concurring to the most degree．The migration algorithm speeds up themigration，reduces the communication overhead and avoids residual dependencies．Tothe research of the migration mechanism，I a
