Is the HTML actually coming from your database (like in a text field) dynamically at report runtime, or is the HTML just a starting point for you redesigning a report in iReport? If you're just redesigning, I recommend replacing the HTML with either iReport native handling of alignment, bold, etc. or (when changing style in the middle of some text in particular) using Styled Text (set markup to "styled" instead of "html"). I've attached a helpful example of that...I got it from Matt Dahlman. You might need to change the query to get it to run on your side, but the query isn't important for this example.
