You may need to calibrate your battery if you have any of the following symptoms:
-
Your phone is shutting down at anything above 10%.
-
Your phone shuts down at a certain % then shows 0% when you turn it back on.
-
The battery level drops very quickly once you have fully charged it.
-
Android shows 100% but it takes more than about 10 minutes for the led to turn green, indicating that the battery isn't at 100% when it says it is.
Contrary to popular belief, particularly on that 'other' site, wiping battery stats does not calibrate a battery. The proper calibration process, detailed below, forces the battery to re-learn it's true capacity, as the capacity of a battery diminishes with age and usage.
To calibrate, follow these steps carefully and in the order given:
-
Plug the charger in with the phone turned on.
-
Charge until the notification LED turns green.
-
Unplug the charger and turn the phone off.
-
Plug the charger back in with the phone turned off.
-
Charge until the notification LED turns green.
-
Unplug the charger and turn the phone on.
-
Once the phone has booted completely, turn it off again.
-
Plug the charger back in with the phone turned off.
-
Charge until the notification LED turns green.
-
Your battery should now be correctly calibrated.
