It was announced yesterday that the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner had pledged to donate one million dollars to the Red Cross on behalf of his company.
“As a New York-based company, to see so many of our employees, customers and neighbors so greatly affected by Hurricane Sandy is unfathomable,” Kors stated in a press release yesterday. “Being a lifelong New Yorker myself, born and bred on the beaches of Long Island, to see this devastation and loss is heartbreaking. We are making this donation in hopes that we can help all those whose lives have been irrevocably altered by Hurricane Sandy.”

The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue magazine have pledged to raise funds for the relief effort with an event called Fashion for Sandy Relief. As part of the fundraising effort –list celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow will be auctioning away a dinner with herself and “The Chew” host Mario Batali. A benefit concert is being planned for December 12th at Madison Square Garden. Kanye West, Alicia Keys, The Who and Bruce Springsteen, among many others, will be headlining the concert.
