Not a solution, but could be used to assemble one:

The DMS Software Reengineering Toolkit is generalized compiler

technology used to analyze, modify, or translate compute source languages.

DMS provides parsers, analysis-support, source-to-source

transformation, and prettyprinting capabilities

for arbitrary languages. It can be obtained with a MATLAB

language definition module.

So for the task you require,

it would need an IDL language definition module,

and the translation rules between IDL and MATLAB

to be coded. This makes economic sense

if you have a lot of code to translate,

or the code you want to translate *must*

be translated correctly.
