A Master's candidate position in bioinformatics/statistical genetics is available in Dr. Pingzhao Hu's lab at the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics (BMG), Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada. We develop and apply statistical and computational algorithms for analyzing big genetic and genomic data. Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in statistics or computer science with 3.5 (4.5 scale) or average 85% Grade Point Average (GPA) in the previous 60 credit hours of university study, or equivalent (normally two years). In addition, during this period there should be no grade less than C+ (75%) in core courses.
The candidate should also meet one of the following English test requirement:
University of Michigan English Language Examination Assessment Battery MELAB (80%); Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL– Paper-based test (550); Computer-based test (213) ; Internet Based iBT (80); International English Language Testing System IELTS (6.5).
