Use FTP commands under Linux

Connect to the FTP server

Format: FTP [hostname ip-address]

A) input at the Linux command line: FTP 15

B) the server asks you for your username and password, and then you enter yint and the corresponding password.

Download the file

The download files are usually used by get and mget.

A) get

Format: get [remote-file] [local - file]

Transfer the file from the remote host to the local host.

To get the E: \ rose \ 1. BMP on the server, then

FTP > get/rose / 1. BMP (enter)

B) mget

Format: mget [remote-files]

Receive a batch of files from the remote host to the local host.

To get all the files on the server, E: \ rose \, then

FTP > CD/rose

FTP > mget *. *

Note: the files are downloaded to the current directory of the Linux host. For example, the FTP command running under/root/yint is downloaded to/root/yint.

Upload files

A) put

Format: put local - file [remote-file]

Transfer a local file to a remote host.

If you want to transfer 1. BMP to the remote host E: \ rose, and rename it 333. BMP

FTP > put 1. BMP/rose / 333. BMP (enter)

B) mput

Format: mput local - files

Transfer a batch of files from the local host to the remote host.

To upload all BMP files from the local current directory to server E: \ rose

FTP > CD/rose (enter)

FTP > mput *.bmp

Note: the upload file is from the current directory of the host. For example, the FTP command running under/root/yint is only uploaded to server E: \ rose under/root/yint file Linux.

disconnect

Bye: interrupt the connection to the server.

FTP > bye
