A year ago, the visionary InterContinental Chengdu Global Center took the lead to introduce the Golden Keys E-Con Service System into hotel daily practice. This innovated, eco-friendly and efficient system brings a brand-new service and management experience to the hotel that guests are able to enjoy “Satisfaction + Surprise” service through a modern luggage storage method.

As a Area General Manager of an International Chain Hotel，From your perspective，What value does Golden Keys benefit the IHG ?
Mr.John Lim：“金钥匙在酒店行业扮演了十分关键的角色，他们往往是客人到达酒店后最先接触到的酒店人，也是酒店的前线大使。金钥匙对当地的衣、食、住、行、游、购、娱等资讯都非常熟悉，能为客人提供“一站式”服务，并会竭尽所能为客人解决在生活中和旅途中遇到的问题。
我很骄傲向大家分享洲际酒店集团大中华区于2016年第21届中国金钥匙年会上荣获“服务第一奖”荣誉，我也非常自豪我们酒店有金钥匙陈远彬先生作为首席礼宾司，带领酒店前线部门，为酒店带来源源不断的活力，他出色的服务也为酒店赢得了2018年第三季度洲际酒店集团大中华区“真正的待客之道”的奖项，他也获得了2018 酒店人奖项 (首席礼宾司类别)。我相信这将会激发起年轻一代的工作热情，去努力成为这个领域的未来之星。”
“Golden Keys play a vital role in hospitality business where they are mostly the first guests’ contact point thus they are the Hotel front line Ambassador. Golden Keys also play a role of a ‘One Stop Shop’ whereby they provide and assist local ‘In The Know’.

I am extremely proud to have Chief Concierge Jim Chen leading our Hotel front line and bring life to the Hotel. His excellent guests’ services have won the hotel 2018 IHG Greater China the True Hospitality Awards – Quarter 3 and won himself the 2018 Hotelier Awards – Chief Concierge Category. I believe the allocates will encourage the younger generations to be the future star in the field.”

“Indeed IT has become a necessity in order to cope with the fast moving world. Travelers travel smart and hassle-free and to save time just a button away. Here at the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center, we have launched the E-Con a year ago and we found the systems to be user-friendly, fast and efficient. The system has also helped to make paper obsolete and save cost in the process. Many guests were impressed with the system knowing that our Hotel is living the modern time.”

E-Storage brings Mr. Jim Chen, the Golden Keys at InterContinental Chengdu Global Center closer to his guests, and it helps Jim to understand guests’needs comprehensively. E-Con applications can easily fulfill guests’ needs through ordering vehicle, making travel plans or other service.

Q：成都环球中心天堂洲际大饭店的寄存服务95%以上已使用E寄存的电子行李牌代替了传统纸质行李牌，您是如何让团队迅速适应新的变化？
InterContinental Chengdu Global Center has replaced 95% of the traditional luggage tag with E-Storage system, how did you lead your team in managing the transition?
Mr.John Lim：“在刚开始使用E-Con系统的时候，一开始人们尚未习惯这种新方式，这是很正常的。但金钥匙陈远彬和他的服务团队勇于尝试，在工作中不断地使用并熟练操作流程，把使用金钥匙E-Con系统成为了一种习惯，一切的关键在于使用正确的思维接纳新变化，才能抓住机遇迎接新时代。
作为酒店的区域总经理，我也将鼓励集团下的酒店依此作为最佳榜样去使用金钥匙E-Con系统，并在每月会议上与其他品牌酒店的总经理共同分享，全力推广此节能环保高效的E-Con系统。”
"As mentioned earlier, we started to use the E-storage system a year ago and initailly people were not accustomed to the new way of doing things and that is very normal. However, Jim and his team constantly strived the new system until it has become a habit. Its all about accepting changes with the right mindset.
As an Area General Manager, I would encourage my Cluster Hotels to launch the program as Best Practice. Same time I would share with other Hotel brands General Managers during our monthly meet."
