A string is series of characters, where a character is the same as a byte. This means that PHP only supports a 256-character set, and hence does not offer native Unicode support. so when you output chiese charaters with echo,
it will display as messy code. we can solve it as add " " before tag
between tag .NOTE: string can be as large as up 2GB(2147483647 bytes maximum);
a string literal can be specified in four different ways,single quoted, double quoted, heredoc syntax, nowdoc syntax(snice php 5.3)
although these ways can specified the same string literal, they have obvious difference in function. so we can according to the function to choose appropriate ways to specified it.
Signle quote:
The simplest way to sepecifed a string literal is enclose it in signle quote(' character').
Limit:
1 . if you use Signle quote to specifed a string literal, you can't include signle quoted anymore. if you want specified a literal signle quoted directly ,escape it with a backslash(\) , if you want to specifed
a backslash, you must use double backslash to escape it.
2. varibales and escape squences for special charaters will not be explained when they occur in single quoted string literal.
Double quoted
if the string literal enclose in double quoted,it will intepret more escape squences for special charater. The most import future for double-quoted is the fact that varibales name will be expanded
$beer = 'Heineken';
echo "$beer's taste is greate
";
echo "He drank some $beers
";
echo "He drank some ${beer}s
";
echo "He drank some {$beer}s
";
