How did the farmer cross the river?  农夫该怎样过河？

Long, long ago, a farmer wanted to cross a river. He had to take three things with him: a fox, a hen and a bag of rice. As he had a very small boat, he could only carry one thing at a time.

If he took the rice first and left the fox and the hen, the fox would eat the hen. If he took the fox first and left the hen and the rice, the hen would eat the rice. If he took the hen first, he could not take the rice next because the hen would eat it. If he took the hen first, he could not take the fox next, either, because the fox would eat the hen.

How did he do it?

很久以前，一个农夫想过河。他必须带三件东西：一只狐狸，一只母鸡和一袋米。因为他有一只小船，但一次只能带一件东西。

如果他先带走米并留下狐狸和母鸡，狐狸将会吃掉母鸡。如果他先带走狐狸并留下母鸡和米，母鸡将会吃掉米。如果他先带走母鸡，下一步他就不能去带米因为母鸡会吃掉米。如果他先带走母鸡，下一步他也不能去带狐狸，因为狐狸将会吃掉母鸡的。

他该怎么办呢？

先带鸡子过河，再回头带狐狸过河， 接着把母鸡带回去，再把米带过河，再返回，带母鸡。
