To solve this open the Project Properties, then goto:
C/C++ -> Code Generation
... and change:
Basic Runtime Checks from "Both (/RTC1, equiv. to /RTCsu)" to "Default".
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _RTC_Shutdown
