In today's lesson,we are going to talk about two things:

1.how to show your care for other's health.
如何关心他人的健康

2.how to comfort someone who's not feeling well.
如何抚慰情绪低落的他

Part 1:关爱他人健康

What's the matter?
是一种比较含蓄、关心他人的问法,可以用于不确定对方是不是生病的情况。

For example:
What's the matter,Tom?

Do you feel all right?You don't look so good.
你的气色看着不大好啊!

Are you OK?You look pale.
你还好吗?你看起来脸色好苍白。

somebody+look+形容词=某人看起来怎么样

For example:
You look pale.
Tom doesn't feel well.He looks tired.

I don't feel well.I'm tired.
我感觉不太舒服,太累了。

I don't feel quite right.I need some rest.
我觉得不是很舒服,我想休息。

be worn out=exhausted=精疲力尽

For example:
I am worn out.
I am exhausted.

I went to bed later than usual last night.
我昨天比平常睡的晚。

stay up late=睡得晚/熬夜

For example:
What's the matter?You look tired!
I stayed up late last night.

Just don't stay up too late.
别熬夜啦!

我肚子不舒服,有点想吐:
I feel sick to my stomach.

feel like doing sth.=想要做某事
throw up=呕吐

For example:
I feel like throwing up.

nauseous=恶心的,想吐的
I feel nauseous.

vomit / puke=呕吐

For example:
There must be something wrong with the food,I think I'm going to vomit / puke.
这些食物肯定有问题,我感觉我要吐。

感到恶心、想吐:
I feel sick to my stomach.
I feel liking throwing up.
I think I'm going to vomit / puke.

ache=疼痛
身体部位+ache=什么痛
head”头“+ache=headache”头痛“
tooth”牙“+ache=toothache”牙痛“

For example:
My back aches.
I have a backache.

XX is killing me.
表示”不舒服“的句型,但是语气要夸张一些。

For example:
My head's killing me.
头痛死了!

Man,these shose are killing me.
天哪,这双鞋子穿的我疼死了。

exaggerate=夸张夸大

Can I get you a glass of water?
Would you like to lie down?
Should I call a doctor?

Monica: Oh,my foot!!!
Joey: What,what it is?
Monica: Jellyfish sting?It hurts me!
Chandler: We've got to do something.Should we take you back to the house?

We've got to do something!
我们得做点什么!

Should we take you back to the house?
我们要不要送你回去?

后继的关心:

Are you feeling better now?
你现在好点了吗?

Did you take any medication?
你吃药了吗?

Have you seen a docter?
你看过医生了吗?

Part 2:关怀他人的情绪

Tip 1:做一个好点倾听者

Tell me how you're feeling,maybe I can help you.

vent=发泄
I'm all ears=我听着呢

For example:
Do you just need to vent?I'm all ears!

Tip 2:安慰式

Don't worry,everything is going to be ok.

Tip3:注意力转移

Would you like to hear some gossip?
要不来点八卦?

Tip 4:给予实际的关怀

Can I make you a cup of tea?
给你泡杯茶好吗?

I'm bringing dinner Thursday.Do you want lasagna or chicken?
我周四带饭啊,你要吃千层面还是鸡肉?

Tip 5:直接表达关心
I care about you.You're not alone.
我很关心你,你不是一个人。

错误:
There's always someone worse of than you are. 你这还不是最糟糕的情况。
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. 不要再难过啦!

正确:
You're not alone. 你不是孤独的。
I'll always be there for you. 别怕,有我在。

错误:
No one ever said that life was fair. 生活本来就是不公平的。

正确:
You're going to make it though. 你会好起来的。

错误:
It's your fault. 这是你自己的错。

正确:
Everyone makes mistakes.What we can do is learn from our mistakes. 人非圣贤孰能无过,我们要学会在错误中成长。
