Don't worry about the prestige factor when choosing the school. Employers value a Waterloo/UFT/Queen's degree in Applied Science fairly the same way (It varies from company to company however). Employers won't take the ranking factor into much consideration when looking at these 3 schools as they are all well recognized. Each school has their advantages and disadvantages, it all depends on what you want.

UFT you will commute. However, you will get have that great reputation behind your degree (Although this is not that important). The internship program is great as well, just as good as Queen's. UFT has a weak social life though, and the studen environment isn't that good as it is very competitive. Students fight with eachother rather than help eachother out. Therefore mainly only advantage UFT has is a general first year and high reputation (which again is not that important when dealing with these 3 schools).

Waterloo you will not commute most likely. It has a great reputation for engineering and its co-op program is amazing as well. However the co-op is weak in the first 2 years but gets better when you apply for jobs during 3rd or 4th year. Waterloo is not that competitive once you get in as the students already have their majors in first year.

Queen's you will commute and love living on campus. The social scene is great and the traditions that come a long with it will make your 4 years unforgettable and enjoyable. However, in terms on engineering it has less reputation than UFT and Waterloo (but this is not that important). Queen's has a general first year in which as long as you pass you can get you desired major. What does this mean??? This means everyone works together and helps eachother to get good grades and pass engineering!! This environment makes first year a lot easier as you are working together rather than against eachother like UFT. The internship program is great as well and is on par with UFTs. The reason for low precentage of ppl who take internship at Queen's is because of the pride factor of graduating with your year (you will understand this if you end up coming to Queen's and living through a year). Most students don't want to wait another year to graduate, they want to graduate with their classmates theve spent the past 3 years getting very close with.

So above is the pros/cons of each school. If your looking for highly reputable school with job oppertunities early, choose waterloo. If you want a great school, in which you will get your degree and love your time there, go to Queen's. I would not recommend UFT mainly for the fact that commuting and weak community is not worth that ''ranking factor'', as its not that important with employers if your just talking about these 3 schools.
