In the last few years, the need for portable and embedded system has increased dramatically in every field. Embedded applications like digital devices, audio devices, electronics, mobile computing applications, networking,, aerospace field etc., are applications with stringent limitations such as area, speed, time, efficiency and power consumption.ARM development boards are the ideal and cost effective platform for accelerating the development and reducing the risk of new system on chip designs. The combination of ASIC and FPGA technology in ARM boards delivers an optimal solution in terms of the parameters such as speed, accuracy, flexibility and cost. Linux as an Embedded Operating system gives additional advantages with its characteristics like full memory protection, multi tasking, multi process operating system. For every new embedded design the operating system must be modified and changed accordingly to fit the target embedded board and the operating system which is modified is ported on to the specific targeted embedded system board.
