I'm not fanatic about python. Especially when it comes to its disastrous (inappropriate, but true for noobs like me) environment management system (good, but requires time to learn). Recently, I somehow managed to get rid of anaconda (too large with unnecessary tools) and switched to conda.
Another pain in the ass is the command "activate" and "jupyter notebook". When one has to spend so much time typing a single command, it's not pleasing.
To set alias under windows system. We can do this:
*Admitting these are dirty tricks, I'll be more than happy to swtich if there are any better solutions.
tl;dr
Step 1:
alias act to activate by copying ./conda/Scripts/activate.bat to ./conda/Scripts/act.bat
Step 2:
alias jt to jupyter by copying ./conda/envs/{myenvname}/Scripts/jupyter.exe to ./conda/envcs/{yourenvname}/Scripts/jt.exe
AND
copying ./conda/envs/{myenvname}/Scripts/jupyer-script.py to ./conda/envs/{myenvname}/Scripts/jt-script.py
Step 3:
modify jupyter command so it takes nb as input:
Go to ./conda/envs/{myenvname}/Lib/site-packages/jupyter_core/command.py
Find main function. Line 190 should go like:
subcommand = sys.argv[1]
Create two lines after it and your new lines 191-192 should be
if sys.argv[1] == 'nb':
subcommand = 'notebook'
Your are all set!
Following conda's installation suggestion. One would not add conda to path. So get conda prompt and typing "act {myenvname}" activates an env.
Type "jt nb" to open a jupyter notebook.
Do not do above if you don't know what your doing.
