Starting the Hive Metastore in CDH

Cloudera 推荐that you 部署the Hive metastore, which stores the 元数据 for Hive 表和分区, in "远程模式." In this mode the metastore service runs in 自己的 JVM 进程，其他服务比如 HiveServer2, HCatalog, and Apache Impala (incubating) 进行通信 with the metastore 使用the Thrift network API.

Important:

If you are running the metastore in Remote mode, 你必须启动metastore ，之后才能启动hiverServer2。

To run the metastore as a 守护进程, the command is:

$ sudo service hive-metastore start
