1-10. Senior Software Engineer
Ken: Thanks for taking time from your busy schedule for thismeeting, Susan. As you know, we’re looking for a senior software engineer forour new Xi’an project.
Susan: Yes, I was the software consultant of the proposalteam last year. We were all so glad to get this bid.
K: That is one of the most complex proposals we’ve had to doup to date. Now that we’ve been selected by the city council (/'kaʊnsl/, 理事会) todot the project, we have to try our best.
S: As I recall (/'rikɔl/, 回忆起,召回), they want us to design andinstall a city-wide wireless Metropolitan (/ˌmɛtrə'pɑlɪtən/, 大都市的)Area Network.
K: It will be our first wireless project. You are softwareengineer who came to us with experience in that area. Would you be willing totake on the responsibility of a/the senior software engineer for the project?
S: I was very interested in the proposal, and I would behappy to put my suggestions into practice. What’s the timeline on this?
K: The first project milestone is six months later. We’revery fortunate that the city council is a patient group.
S: Six months? That will give me enough time to finish mostof my present work. The Shanghai elevator system is almost ready forinstallation. Yes, I think we can agree to this agreement.
K: That will involve a salary rise and status promotion foryou, Susan.
S: I’m glad to take on this challenge. Thanks for trustingme and giving me this opportunity.
