Leetcode 11 Container With Most Water

Given n non-negative integers a1, a2, ..., an, where each represents a point at coordinate (i, ai). n vertical lines are drawn such that the two endpoints of line i is at (i, ai) and (i, 0). Find two lines, which together with x-axis forms a container, such that the container contains the most water.

Note: You may not slant the container and n is at least 2.

港真，我真的拿最蠢的全部遍历的方式做了。理论上可行，但是实际上过于繁复，特别是当基数大的时候。

这个问题其实很有代表性，我觉得有必要记下来。

贴机智的典型双指针做法。

    int left = 0, right = height.length - 1;
	int maxArea = 0;

	while (left < right) {
		maxArea = Math.max(maxArea, Math.min(height[left], height[right])
				* (right - left));
		if (height[left] < height[right])
			left++;
		else
			right--;
	}

	return maxArea;
}
}

我来分析一下这个问题。

首先，横坐标有两个值，有不同的组合方式，对应的纵坐标也有不同的组合方式。

使用双指针从两个不同方向进行遍历，减少重复。

计算面积的问题呢，还存在一个类似“木桶效应”的问题，也就是高由矮的一边决定。

所以每次都是移动较矮的一边。
