IELTS Speaking
Time system
This test takes between 11 and 14 minutes.

Part 1: 4 to 5 minutes, 10 - 11questions
2-3 questions about intruduction (work/study/live)
4 questions about one short topic
4 questions about mini topic -
Part 2: 3 to 4 minutes, 1 minute for prepare, 2 minutes for speak

Part 3: 4 to 5 minutes, 3 - 6 questions, Give long, detailed answers
Scoring system
- Fluency and coherence

- Grammar (Reduce the number of mistake)
- Pronunciation (Clearly)
Speaking part 1
Tips:
- Fluency
- Short
- Simple
Answer:
- Answer the question
- Give a reason. (or extra information 2 centences, to guide the examiner)
- Give short, simple answers, but use full sentences.
- Stop with confidence, don’t keep talking, smile at the examiner!
Speaking part 2
Preparation tip:
- think of a ‘theme’ for any person
- start with easy adjective
- search for better words and phrases
- think of examples or stories to demonstrate each theme
- you will need to adapt your ideas and improvise in the test
- practise, record, improve
Answer:
- make the desicion quickly
- follow the points on the task card
- prepare ideas and vocabulary
- speak naturally, explain in detail
Speaking part 3
Answer:
- Give long, detailed answers
- Answer the question directly
- Explain your answer (reasons)
- Give an example
- Explain the opposite / alternative (what would happen if…?)
