I find couple’s therapy to be helpful because it gives each partner a chance to air their frustrations in an environment where they are on an equal footing.

put into perspective = put (something) in(to) perspective :To clarify, appraise, or assess the true value, importance, or significance of something.

Seeing the devastation caused by a natural disaster like that really puts our petty gripes and problems in perspective, doesn’t it?

I’m just twiddling my thumbs here in the ER, waiting for someone to give me an update on Claire’s condition.

see eye to eye on:To agree (with someone) about something; to share someone’s position or opinion on some topic or issue.

His mother and I don’t see eye to eye on his decision to drop out of college.

go through the motions:To do the base functions of some activity without much thought or interest.

I’ve done this job for so long that I just go through the motions every day.
